Ohio Woman Finds Big Footprint in Backyard and Suspects Bigfoot

What would you do if you found a large, human-like footprint in your backyard? An Ohio woman recently found just such a big footprint, and suspects that it might belong to Bigfoot. But was the print left by Sasquatch, or something (or someone) else?

Big Footprint possibly Bigfoot?
Bigfoot? Bear? Or hoax?

JEFFERSON, Ohio, Sept. 17 (UPI) — An Ohio woman said a large, mysterious footprint discovered on her property may have been left by the legendary creature Bigfoot.

The woman, who gave her name only as Wendy, said she discovered the 7.5-inch-wide footprint — which she said has five toes like a human — in her Ashtabula County back yard while she was doing yard work Aug. 11, WEWS-TV, Cleveland, reported Tuesday.

“It was in a low spot in our backyard. The ground was wet,” she said. “It’s much larger than anything me or my husband has ever seen.

“It’s hard to tell how long it is,” Wendy said, “But, it’s not a footprint anyone around here recognizes.”

She said experts have taken a look at pictures of the footprint and ruled out bears.

Wendy said she and her husband have previously heard bizarre noises while outside during the past five years, and about three years ago she caught sight of a very large, dark colored figure near her home.

“Just down the road, at dusk, we were driving across the railroad tracks. I caught a quick glimpse of a large dark figure. It appeared to be dressed in all black running across the tracks. I thought to myself, why would a hunter be dressed in all black at sunset?” she said.

Marc DeWerth, a member of the Ohio Bigfoot Association, said in a lecture this summer he personally saw Bigfoot in Coshocton County in 1997, and said park rangers have told him numerous Bigfoot sightings had been reported during the past 20 years by hunters, farmers and other travelers in Medina, Wayne and Summit counties.

I’m still not convinced a bear can be ruled out. The fact that she said that it was hard to tell how long the footprint was sort of kills any serious analysis. It’s interesting to be sure, but this could just be a bear or a hoaxer.
