Psychic Uses Mystery Man to Make Spooky Sounds During Ghost Hunt

The more things change, the more things stay the same. Back in the 19th century when mediums and séances were all te rage, many of these psychics were exposed as frauds, with the most notable being the Fox sisters. The sisters used fake knockings to convince others that they were communicating with ghosts and the spirit world. Fast-forward almost 200 years, and “psychics” are still trying to defraud people with phantom knockings, like the “Knight Guider.” Yes, that is what he calls himself.

Psychic Knight Guider Chris Date is accused of hoaxing ghost hunters
Sorry Knight Guider, you’ll never be this cool…

A PSYCHIC was yesterday accused of making things go bump in the night by using an accomplice to make knocking noises during a “haunted hotel” tour.

‘Knight Guider’ Chris Date denies allegations that he used a hidden accomplice

Chris Date, a paranormal medium, spooked guests when the spirits made contact. But staff later discovered a man had been hiding in the attic.

Mr Date, who calls himself “Knight Guider”, reportedly told guests at the £12-a-head tour he could contact the spirit world.

But the hotel owner revealed how his staff spotted a mystery man climbing down from the roof of the hotel.

Mr Date, 38, said yesterday he was unaware of the man in the attic at the Halfway Hotel, Llanelli, South Wales.

Hotel owner Paul Francis, 33, said there were 14 paying guests on the “ghost hunt”.

The ghost hunters were led into the stables of the hotel when Mr Date asked a spirit to knock twice in answer to a question. And the guests were hushed as two “ghostly” knocks were heard from the ceiling above.

Mr Francis said: “A member of staff and a member of the public wanted to see if someone came down from the attic where the knocking was coming from. Twenty minutes went by and then this guy jumped down. Our staff grabbed the guy and threw him out.”

Ghost hunt guest Mike Grimble, 43, said the attic man claimed he was homeless and had nothing to do with the spooky sounds.

We gave him the keys to the hotel around 4pm in the afternoon to set up and I think he used that time to put someone in the attic

But sceptic Mr Grimble said he was wearing “designer jeans”. He claimed Mr Date drove away from the hotel shortly after the man was caught.

Mr Francis said that Mr Date had been banned from the hotel.

He said: “We gave him the keys to the hotel around 4pm in the afternoon to set up and I think he used that time to put someone in the attic. During the hunt later that night he was calling out to the ghost world and asked for them to knock as an answer.

“Well, it sounded like someone knocking on the front door. He wanted his first evening running a ghost hunt to go with a bang but it backfired in a big way.” Mr Date denied he planted a colleague in the attic to pretend to be a ghost. He said: “Absolutely not. It was nothing to do with me, that is one of the reasons that I left.

“The knocking did not sound like what I am used to. I said on several occasions that it was odd, the noise was too extreme. I have got a very good track record. It’s disgusting, I would never do that.

“I take what I am doing very seriously. It was a ghost hunt. No mediumship was promised – it’s a fun ghost tour around the hotel.”

It’s interesting that this so-called psychic, who can apparently sense ghosts of all kinds, did not sense a living, bretahing person in the attic. And why would he high-tail it out of there once the guy was caught? He says he takes what he does very seriously (as well as taking his guests’ money), but then goes on to say it was just a “fun ghost tour?” It sounds like he’s trying to save face for whatever the outcome is here.
