Savannah Ghost Video: Real or Fake?

Colonial Park Cemetery

Has anyone see the latest ghost video that’s been making the rounds online? This one comes to us courtesy of FOX 8 in Cleveland, Ohio, who broke the story on Monday’s nightly news. Apparently an Ohio family was vacationing in Savannah, Georgia, when their teenage son, who was filming with the family camcorder in Colonial Park Cemetery, allegedly captured what appeared to be a ghost of a small child darting between tombstones before jumping into a tree and then disappearing.

The video can’t be embedded, but you can check it out in its entirety here.

A couple of thoughts: first of all, I agree with those who were interviewed in the piece…if this were real, why didn’t the kid go investigate the tree after this, or at least keep the camera rolling? And why didn’t he stop the woman with the stroller, or any one of the other people walking by, to see if they had just witnessed the same thing he had? While his reaction to the “ghost” seems pretty genuine, this video just doesn’t add up for me. And is anyone else thoroughly amused by the copyright his parents spent two years obtaining for this? Hmmm…

What do you think?

  • It’s interesting. All the questions being asked are valid. I know I’ve had one or two encounters that I wish I had reacted differently. Once I was standing next to a friend and didn’t discuss it with her until we left the area almost half an hour later. We were both stunned by what we both felt. Had we shared our experience in the moment, we could have looked around immediately. The boy is young and as witnessed on TV, even people who go looking for ghosts get startled. As for the copyright….well….I’ve heard several ghost hunters who belong to groups say things like…if we get good images we’ll be millionaires. 🙂

  • Thanks for the comment, Hope. I do think we need to take into consideration that this kid was 17, and seemed to be freaked out by whatever he’d just seen (paranormal or not). So, while I wish he would have investigated further (if this is real), you really can’t blame the kid for not doing that, either.

  • I find it very interesting, I’d love to view it multiple times in slow Mo, there’s a lot going on in that background.

  • I think it is an intriguing video for sure. However, I think that it’s a sequence of “normal” events that occur and just appear to look a certain way. Child walking/running – Tosses something into tree and object falls to the ground. – just an example. Anywho, it turns out on film to appear to be something else entirely. If I had shot that video I would have checked out the area immediately to see if there was any possibility of something else, but maybe that’s just me…just sayin’.
